Oscar-winner Dustin Lance Black on his landmark LGBT rights miniseries, why he doesn’t care if you think it’s a history lesson, and, yes, tabloid rumors about fiancé Tom Daley.
Frankie Gnekow's curator insight, February 27, 2017 10:59 PM
Dustin Lance Black, a screenwriter and producer, discusses his new 4 part tv series called "When We Rise." In this new series he will seek to educate the public on the 4 decade gay rights movement like never before, and for good reason. For the first time ever, the public will have an easily assessable and interesting show that educates them about the hard fought battle for equality. With the landmark case of Obergefell v Hodges, the LGBT+ community finally obtained the right to marry, moving one step closer to equality. But this case did not make members of the LGBT community equal, and that is what the show will educate on. The history and the battles fought for equality.
