Like the LGBTQ+ community, their soundtrack is vast and diverse. Join Centre Stage London as they present a selection of music celebrating LGBTQ History Month, community and love in all its forms. From dance classics from big-voiced divas to soul searching slow jams that mirror struggles with self-acceptance and social rejection. Centre Stage London is proud of our LGBTQI members and the connection we have with this vibrant community and is excited to celebrate a message of hope, acceptance, activism and love in Love Happens Here- An LGBTQI Cabaret.

This three-hander by the award-winning dramatist Australian playwright, Tommy Murphy, arrives in the West End, having had a successful run at the King's Head Theatre in Islington. Catching up with it now, I'm glad to vouch that Adam Spreadbury-Maher's beautifully cast production well deserves this transfer. The piece is set in Sydney's King's Cross area (roughly equivalent to Soho) where the sixteen year old Shane, in flight from his rural hometown of Goulburn and lying about his age, has fetched up and secured himself a job in a bottlo (off-license).

Callisto: a queer epic is a swirling constellation of remarkable queer stories. In London, 1680, opera star Arabella Hunt has secretly entered into the first recorded gay marriage in UK history. In Worcester, 1936, Alan Turing pays one final visit to Isobel Morcom, mother of his lost first love, Christopher. In the San Fernando Valley, 1979, Tammy Frazer arrives at Callisto Pornographic Studios, searching for the love of her life. And on the Moon, 2223, Lorn is building a paradise to sleep in, but Cal, his A.I. companion, is determined to keep him awake.

Safe is my verbatim theatre piece, created entirely, word for word, out of my interviews with four homeless and at risk LGBT youth, and via the Albert Kennedy Trust, a charity helping and supporting such young people. Previously performed at Soho Theatre for the Pride in London Arts Festival, at London Theatre Workshop in the City and on September 28 and 29, presented as part of Norwich Theatre Royal’s season exploring gender and sexuality; Creative Matters.

When Desiree Akhavan first dreamt up The Bisexual – a comedy-drama series about a lesbian who realises she’s also attracted to men – she pitched the idea to just about every network in LA. It didn’t go well. One told her that they already had Transparent, a show full to the brim with queer people, and thus had no need for another. The next said they already had a female, brown-skinned lead in The Mindy Project (never mind that Akhavan is Iranian-American, and Mindy Kaling is Indian-American). And on it went.
